MILQ – Teaching Quantum Physics

Quantum mechanics is not only perceived as difficult by students. It really is. Every teacher must face the extremely difficult conceptual problems that it raises. The internet portal milq is aimed at anyone who teaches quantum physics at school and / or would like to learn more about it in more detail.

The tested and evaluated milq course constitutes the centre. Here you will find conceptual background knowledge adapted to the school lessons.
The section more offers additional content, but is still in the process of translation from german.

The section materials lists all teaching aids such as simulations, the complete milq script and additional texts, all available as downloads.

NEW (25 April 2026):
We have repeatedly received requests for mobile versions of our simulations – and now they are finally here! We have rewritten them from scratch: browser-based, with a modern user interface and full functionality on tablets, smartphones, and computers.
Try them out and give us your feedback (physikdidaktik(at)tu-bs.de): How intuitive is the interface? How does it load and run on your device? We are especially looking forward to reports from iPad and Android tablet users – the simulations should work on these devices, but have not yet been extensively tested.

NEW (17 April 2026):

Under More > QTIndu, you will find learning materials on quantum technologies developed as part of the QTIndu project. A total of three courses (Basic rules of Quantum Physics, Quantum Communication & Networks, Quantum Myths) have been added. Please feel free to take a look around – your feedback is always welcome.
