Your browser does not support the audio. <\/audio><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>With the slow advancement of a new generation of quantum technologies\u2014a generation that will explicitly leverage quantum phenomena\u2014the significance of this technology is rising, as are the hype and misunderstandings surrounding it. Quantum computing, in particular, but also quantum technologies in general, are among the most hyped ideas of our time. In the media, there are many bold statements about what quantum technologies can achieve, with some being misleading and others simply wrong. In this course, we will examine the most common statements about the quantum hype and delve deeper into the often quite superficial and general claims.<\/p>\n<p>For experts in the emerging field of quantum technologies, several media misinformation are particularly concerning:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>simplified statements, where the missing information falsifies the statement; these statements may be simplified but are fundamentally wrong due to the simplification<\/li>\n<li>unspecific or general statements that do not apply in all cases (e.g., claims about the superiority of quantum technologies in all areas)<\/li>\n<li>misleading and pompous exaggerations, along with mystical and enigmatic claims; they may spark interest but fundamentally convey technical misunderstandings and false hopes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Why is it important to address these statements?<\/h3>\n<p>Such misinformation often shifts the focus away from the challenges faced by science toward general and sometimes exaggerated statements about the capabilities and principles of quantum technologies, particularly quantum computers. This gives the impression that quantum computers can solve everything, are faster, accessible, and the salvation of the world. This isn&#8217;t necessarily true, and once this becomes clear, it may seem like quantum computers are just a hype or worthless.<\/p>\n<p>To provide a more nuanced view of these statements and demystify them, this course will address most of these general statements as &#8220;myths.&#8221; Together, we will explore six quantum myths in this course:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.milq.info\/en\/qti\/qmyths\/myth1\/\" class=button>Myth 1:<\/a> &#8220;Quantum computers will replace classical computers.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.milq.info\/en\/qti\/qmyths\/myth2\/\" class=button>Myth 2:<\/a> &#8220;Quantum computers can decrypt everything.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.milq.info\/en\/qti\/qmyths\/myth3\/\" class=button>Myth 3:<\/a> &#8220;Quantum computers are only accessible to large companies.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.milq.info\/en\/qti\/qmyths\/myth4\/\" class=button>Myth 4:<\/a> &#8220;Quantum computers use &#8216;parallel calculation&#8217; in parallel cores and give results in parallel.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.milq.info\/en\/qti\/qmyths\/myth5\/\" class=button>Myth 5:<\/a> &#8220;Quantum computers are faster than classical computers.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.milq.info\/en\/qti\/qmyths\/myth6\/\" class=button>Myth 6:<\/a> &#8220;Quantum computers will be surpassed by AI.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We will use these often inaccurately communicated ideas to illustrate the biggest misunderstandings in the emerging field of quantum computing, provide a more complex overview of these ideas, and prevent losing sight of the true potential of quantum computing by underestimating or overestimating its capabilities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><a class=\"button\" href=\"https:\/\/www.milq.info\/en\/qti\/qmyths\/myth1\/\">Continue to Myth 1<\/a><\/p>\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This course is an audio course.
