Isn’t the production of properties presented here in a somewhat too complicated way? Is the procedure involving preparation and test really necessary?<\/p>\n

In classical physics we prepare objects without making much fuss about it, and we likewise carry out tests. In the example of the horizontal throw, once the experiment has been set up, we will launch the ball a few times to see whether it always lands in the same place. If it does not, the launch mechanism still has to be improved.<\/p>\n

We have to proceed in the same way in quantum physics. If we prepare a beam of elementary particles in order to carry out a scattering experiment, for example, we will first test with suitable detectors whether the particles really possess the desired energy (property “kinetic energy”) and whether the beam is sufficiently focused (property “position”).<\/p>\n

The test can be omitted if we are certain of its positive outcome, e. g. when it is a well-established preparation procedure. In a cathode ray tube we are certain that the electrons are prepared for the property “kinetic energy” once they have passed through the applied accelerating voltage. A test is generally not carried out here.<\/p>\n
