However, it turns out that this is not the case:<\/p>\n<p>In total, the electrons have to overcome a retarding voltage that is made up of at least two parts. On the one hand, the work function <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.milq.info\/wp-content\/ql-cache\/quicklatex.com-50a492c2d6e2cd7bf528cac6e6fa4ed7_l3.png\" class=\"ql-img-inline-formula quicklatex-auto-format\" alt=\"&#87;&#95;&#123;&#92;&#109;&#97;&#116;&#104;&#114;&#109;&#123;&#75;&#125;&#125;\" title=\"Rendered by QuickLaTeX.com\" height=\"16\" width=\"28\" style=\"vertical-align: -3px;\"\/> mentioned above must be overcome, and on the other the contact voltages of the metals in the circuit. Between the anode material and the cathode material, however, a contact voltage arises that corresponds to the difference <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.milq.info\/wp-content\/ql-cache\/quicklatex.com-d49f3f64ddc5d51455f8dc06e1747b19_l3.png\" class=\"ql-img-inline-formula quicklatex-auto-format\" alt=\"&#87;&#95;&#123;&#92;&#109;&#97;&#116;&#104;&#114;&#109;&#123;&#65;&#125;&#125;&#32;&#45;&#32;&#87;&#95;&#123;&#92;&#109;&#97;&#116;&#104;&#114;&#109;&#123;&#75;&#125;&#125;\" title=\"Rendered by QuickLaTeX.com\" height=\"16\" width=\"80\" style=\"vertical-align: -3px;\"\/>.
